Hair fall is one such problem which often disturbs billions of men and women around the world. It is the most common reason of sadness and distress in many of our lives.  There are many reasons which cause baldness and thinning of hair which includes lack of nutrition in the diet, dandruff, pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, sudden weight loss, heredity, stress and depression. To cure any problem, the most  important thing is to understand that what’s causing it, how it can be cured and then start looking for the solutions.

The reason of hair fall at the time of pregnancy or post-partum is mainly due to lack of nutrition and many other hormonal changes in the body. So always try to keep your diet nutritious and rich in vitamins and minerals at the time of pregnancy. It will help you to maintain health of body, skin and hair.

Another important reason of hair fall, we often ignore is using harsh products and chemicals. Nowadays, various expensive hair treatments and hair products are available in the market. But it is not necessary that they will suit your hair type or help you to stop hair fall. Many products also contain harmful chemicals which damages the hair and cause hair fall. So always trust and try only natural and tested methods to protect your hair from all damages.

Using wrong comb also causes breakage of hair, hair fall, split ends. So along with your hair products, it is also very essential to choose your comb wisely. To prevent your hair from falling out, Try these tested and proven remedies:

1. Black seed oil (Kalonji tel)

To prevent dandruff– If dandruff is the reason of your hair fall. Try this remedy. Take 10 gms of black seed oil, add 30 gms of Mehendi (henna) powder, 30 gms of olive oil. Mix it well and heat the mixture for a while. Remove it from flame and put it aside. Let it cool, then apply this paste gently on the scalp. Leave it for an hour. Wash your hair with mild shampoo.

For baldness and damaged hair– Take 20 gms of Black seed oil, 20 gms of Mehendi Powder, 60gms of Vinegar. Mix well and apply it on the bald area and wash your head after an hour. Vinegar is very beneficial for hair, it also works as a natural conditioner and makes your hair smooth and shiny. Do this once in a week.

For hair loss and premature hair graying– Take a lemon and cut it in two pieces. Scrub this lemon on the scalp and leave it for 20 minutes. Lemon is very effective to get rid of scalp infection. Rinse your hair with mild shampoo. Let your hair dry, then massage your scalp with black seed oil.

For regular hair care– Take olive oil and black seed oil in an equal ratio and massage your head with this mixture twice a week before going to bed or one hour before shampooing your hair.


2. Indian Gooseberry (Amla)

Indian gooseberry is widely known for its medicinal properties and significance in Ayurveda.
It promotes hair growth, make them strong, lustrous and shiny.

Crush or grate 3-4 Indian gooseberry, add 1 tbsp of lemon juice to it. Make a thin paste using a grinder or Mortar.
Pour it in a bowl and use this mixture to massage your head before going to bed. Cover your head with a shower cap.
Leave it overnight and wash your head with a mild shampoo next day in the morning. Do this twice a week.


3. Fenugreek seeds (Methi)

It is one of the most preferred remedies to stimulates hair growth and to prevent hair fall. Fenugreek seeds are rich in hormone antecedents which repairs and rebuild hair follicles. It contains proteins and essential acids, which promotes hair growth.

Soak 5-6 tbsp of fenugreek seeds in a bowl of water overnight.  In the morning, use a blender and make a thick paste. Apply this paste on your scalp and hair. Leave it for 40-50 minutes, then wash your head with mild shampoo or only with water.

We also need to understand that our medical conditions impact our lives and various parts of the body drastically. It has been observed that those who suffer from thyroid, PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome), Autoimmune diseases, anemia and other severe illnesses also cause a major hair fall in women. To prevent hair fall, it is also advisable to stock up your diet with protein. Include food like eggs, fish, meat, pulses, soya, cottage cheese, soya products and many other protein rich foods. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Drink at least 8 to 9 glasses of water every day.

Coffee lovers should also keep on check of their coffee intake as sometimes excessive intake of coffee also lead to major hair fall. So switch to some other healthy and nutritious drink in place of coffee.  It will definitely save your hair from falling out.

You can also try various hot oil treatments like coconut oil, olive oil and many others. They are also very effective to prevent hair fall. And yes, stay away from over-styling your hair. Excessive use of air dryers, blowers, straightening iron only makes your hair weaker and damage them. So use them only when urgent.
